Hi everyone! For those of you who do not know (and that's probaly a lot of you) I'm Sarah Spiritheart, and I write fanfiction for the Wizard101 website. Just to warn you all, I'm extremely random. But if you're just here for the story, that's fine too. I'll try to post as much of it up as I can. Congratzes, Sarah! I had Menu chat for a long time, as well. Getting text chat is definitely a relief after awkward conversations and frustratingly mysterious ellipses. :P
ReplyDeleteAlso, I LOVE THE LIFE HOUSE SO MUCH. It's so pretty! In fact, I probably would have got the life house instead of the storm house if not for the fact that, well, I'm storm, and the storm house has lightning coming from the sky. :P Either way, the life house is wonderful, and your news is, indeed, fantastical.
I know what you mean! There would be the awkwardest moments when I was around, especially when I was with more than one people using text chat. Probably the worst experience was when I came to someone's party in game and everyone was using text chat but me. It really sucked because I knew I probably would've had fun if I only knew what everyone was saying!
ReplyDeleteI guess then I realized what I looked like to other people: kind of immature and robot-ish. It was not fun. And now I can really sympathize with other menu-chatters in the game.
On a happier note, the life house is awesome! Now Savannah, Sadie, and I all have school houses. (Savannah has storm and Sadie has myth, which I almost got myself.) The only person who doesn't have one is Samuel, who has neither the money for crowns or the will to earn and save gold like I did. Poor him.
Aw, poor Samuel. I barely have the will to save up any gold... Or IRL money either :P I got mine with crowns for my birthday...
ReplyDeleteMenu chat, menu chat, menu chat... You're right, robot-ish is the word I'd have used, because it's so difficult to really get anything across with it. Maybe KI could work around that with an extra filter? A very basic one, just with simple words and names and spells; then a 13+, more advanced one, equivalent to current text chat; and then the nearly-free-for-all open chat? I don't know. Still, it would be an improvement on the awkward "Please leave me alone" messages...
It is painful at times - I remember accidentally teleporting to a master in Dragonspyre when I was about level 11 with menu chat (I didn't really understand basic in-game etiquette at that point.) All the dots were confusing me and I had no idea what to do. I fled.
Since then I always make an effort to use menu chat when menu chatters are around, because I know - like you - how difficult it is.
(I'm really glad I have text chat.)
